Do you offer Desktop and Tablet support?
Yes and no — lemme explain.
Tablets
Membrandt will work just great on Amazon Fire tablets which are, at their core, Android devices. It is not currently deployed via the Amazon store, but the Android version will run just great on their devices.
iPads
The Membrandt platform officially only generates iPhone compatible apps on the Apple platform. For Apple iOS devices, you have to explicitly declare support for iPhones, iPads, Apple Tv, and Apple Watch platforms. Officially we only support, target and claim support for iPhones.
However, our app does run on an iPad. It's not designed for an iPad and we don't officially claim to support it, but Apple will run it in a small window on the iPad and allow you to zoom in on it. Graphics will not be at iPad quality or resolutions, but the app will be functional.
Why we haven't prioritized iPad & Desktop support
At Membrandt we're firm believers in the law of 80/20. For us, our prime focus is the Mobile Learning space, specifically on mobile phones. When you study the usage models and consumption statistics you will find that iPad consumption and usage patterns mirror those of desktop environments and both are significantly lower than mobile phone consumption and usage. So we focus on the phones (for now).
We do have both iPad and Desktop platforms in development, but they likely won't be released until Q1 or Q2 of 2020.
Why it doesn't really matter...
- We find that most clients already have a desktop platform and are simply looking to compliment it with a Mobile App for added convenience to their users and to boost retention and consumption. Also, generally in this case, even if we offered a desktop platform, most would continue to use their existing one because of the cost savings and time savings vs. having to convert all of that content over to ours.
- On an app, you only login the first time you install it. After that, you'll never have to login again. So even if your membership doesn't provide access so that we can share the password on both systems, it's really not a big deal.
One more thing about Desktop...
We have begun the build out of a Desktop version of Membrandt and it will become available in the future, likely end of Q1 2020 or perhaps Q2 2020. The Desktop version will always be our "fallback" and we will stay focused on the Mobile First approach, but it is something we are committed to offering.
